Family Partnership Program
Non profit organizations such as Indiana Lakeland Girl Scouts are facing financial strains that they no longer can absorb on their own. Over the years this council has sought family donations in a variety of ways, with minimal positive results. We now are embarking on a program that we hope will keep our family members informed and connected and will provide a fun and painless way of supporting your daughter and her friends through Girl Scouting.

As part of the Family Partner Patch Program, parents are challenged to assist with a new council fundraising option that also generates income for their daughter’s troop/group. (See point 8 on the previous page.)

Additionally, Indiana Lakeland is expanding its The Challenge Starts Here series of fundraising programs to keep parents, community members and other family members up to date on the programs their daughters are taking part in and to garner financial and other support for the council. These events are dynamic hour-long information sessions conducted within each of the counties the council serves – Elkhart, Kosciusko, Noble & Whitley. Some girl members of Girl Scouts take part in these events and families and friends are invited to donate to and partner with the council.

To earn bonus income for troops, families work together to meet a county-wide goal set by the council’s board of directors. They have from September 1, 2006 to March 1, 2007 to reach the county goal. In April, the troops in the counties that reach 75-100 percent of their goal will receive 10 percent of that goal divided by the number of troops, enhancing troop/groups’ treasuries. Counties where families raise 50-74 percent of the county’s goals, troops will receive 5 percent of the goal divided by the number of troops/groups.
