Our
camp is 240 acres of forest, open meadows, rolling hills and wetlands
that lie between Bristol and Middlebury in north central
Indiana’s Elkhart County. It features two lodges, a dining
hall, a shower house, swimming pool and a small lake with two islands.
Campers and staff live in platform tents in areas such as Whispering
Pines, Oak Hill and Tanglewood or in bunkhouses at Shady Nook.
The camp is used throughout the year by Girl Scout troops, groups, members, families, outside groups and organizations. During the summer months, the council operates a resident camp program. Our sessions are geared to a girl’s interests and growth. Where else can she learn about horse care or drama and stage sets, rock climbing or dance steps? Some girls make soap and candles, baskets and bracelets or clay and glass stepping-stones; others may learn lots of card games and how to dive. Orienteering, building a raft from recycled materials and learning to stress less are among the many other options. Sometimes, the girls' imagination is the only limit!
