WHAT IS AN ADULT TRAINING OPPORTUNITY?
An adult training opportunity is a chance for an adult volunteer to expand her horizons. In Girl Scouting, we not only want girls to grow strong; we also want our adult volunteers to grow into confident role models for the girls they serve. By attending the following trainings, you will learn new skills, gain confidence, have fun and meet new friends. But remember you are not required to attend all of these trainings. Pick and choose the training opportunities that best fit your needs and schedule. Trainings and registration forms can be found on the council webpage in the calendar section.
See the current list of Adult Training Opportunities.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES BY REQUEST

Also, additional trainings can be requested if there is a minimum of at least six (6) participants for some of our more common trainings.
ADULT TRAINING RECOGNITIONS
After you complete the initial Basic Leaders Training course, you will receive a Girl Scout membership pin. You are encouraged to record additional trainings attended on the Adult Training Personal Record Sheet found at the back of this booklet.
Registered adult members who have completed one successful year in the position of troop/group co-leader or group coordinator, completed Basic Leaders Training, participated in at least two meetings or events outside of the Girl Scout troop meeting and completed training in first aid and camping or have secured a resource person for the troop that has completed those trainings is eligible to receive the GSUSA Leadership Development pin (owl pin).
Additional training is recognized with leaves which can be attached to the Leadership Development pin. For every 10 hours of adult training attended, not including Basic Leaders Training, you are eligible to receive a green leaf. For 50 additional hours of training you are eligible for a silver leaf, and a gold leaf represents 250 hours of training.
We will continue to offer the former training bars which attach to the previous council Leadership Development pin (tree pin) while supplies last.
To receive any of these adult recognitions, complete the Adult Recognitions Request and Awards nomination form (also found in the Volunteer Reference Manual in the adult recognitions section). Return it along with a copy of your Adult Training Personal Record sheet to the council office by March 10 of each year.
